House searched, more arrests in Shifan's murder

A house has been searched and more arrests have been made regarding the murder of Maafannu Fairy Corner Ali 'Tholhi Pele' Shifan, 33 who was stabbed to death in Boduthakurufaanu Magu on Sunday.

The house searched was M.Slipway near Maafannu Cemetery. Police made the arrests prior to the search and took four people in to custody.

Police informed that the people in police custody in relation to Shifan’s murder are Mohamed Asif, Ali Asif and Ahmed Nazim from Lhaviyani Kurendhoo, Maafahi, and Male Registry no. 3912 Mohamed Saifan and Haa Dhaal Kumundhoo, Finifenmaage, Ali Malash.

Police also stated that an 18 year old was among the arrested in the stabbing and brutal murder of Ali 'Tholhi Pele' Shifan. 

Haveeru journalists saw police forensics bring out lots of paper bags, believed to be evidence retrieved from the house after the search. Some people present nearby said that electronic equipment including laptops and other gadgets were retrieved from the place.

Shifan was stabbed near West Park when he stepped out to meet a friend by two men on a GN motorcycle. He was immediately rushed to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). But had been pronounced him dead even when he was brought in to the hospital.
