Maldivian has sold some of its Mumbai flight seats to well renowned Indian travel website "Make My Trip."
Island Aviation Services (IAS), Head of Administration, Mohamed Nashath Hameed said that while it is preparing for the schedule flights to Mumbai to start in November, it had already chosen agents from India.
“We have made an agreement with the most famous travel website ‘Make My trip’ in India, in addition, we are holding talks with other agents as well,” Nashath said.
India’s most famous website ‘Make My Trip’ advertises on famous channels like Star Plus, Colors and Sony. This is one of the most famous travel websites among Indian tourists.
Nashath said that it is an accomplishment for the company to reach an agreement with ‘Make My Trip’.
“The agreement with Make My Trip will also provide exposure to Maldivians in India and make it easy for seats to be sold,” Nashath said.
He said that the company had done a survey on Mumbai upon initiating flights to the destination and that the study had shown that a number of people will travel to the Maldives once the scheduled flights commence.
“The study shows that one of the main reasons why Indian people don’t visit the Maldives is of the difficulty to travel. Especially travelers are less as there are no direct flights. Indians spend much on weddings and honeymoon. Hence we are trying to bring this market to the Maldives,” Nashath said.
The company is preparing to bring an A320 flight next month to increase their flight destinations to India and Bangladesh. IAS is currently training 20 of its hand-picked cabin crews for the new A320 flight. The company informs that part of the one month long training program will also be conducted in Sri Lanka.
