Convicted prisoner re-arrested while trying to intimidate Magistrate

A Police Official said that Fariz had escaped from the Penitentiary Department when he was brought to Male’ while he was serving his sentence in jail. Police said that only Fariz had been arrested in relation to the incident so far.
An official from the Justice Ministry said that they had received reports that a convicted criminal had tried to threaten and intimidate a Criminal Court magistrate. The official said that the mob had confronted and threatened the magistrate, accusing him of passing very lengthy prison sentences. The mob had confronted the magistrate near his house but had not harmed anyone or damaged any property, the official said.

A man who had been sentenced to 24 years in jail on three separate drug convictions was re-arrested last night while he was trying to intimidate a magistrate of the Criminal Court. The man, Ali Fariz of M. Silvershark, had been part of the mob that had confronted the magistrate near his home.
