LeCute, a popular cosmetics shop in Male’, will host an art exhibition next Wednesday night showcasing the work of Maldivian graffiti artists. The exhibition will be organized in collaboration with the Maldivian Graffiti Artists (MGA) club. All the artwork on display at the exhibition are produced using only the Graffiti Application on Facebook, a popular online social networking site.

50 prints of selected works will be on display at the exhibition to be held at LeCute shop, a founding member of the MGA club said. In addition, a lot more of the work of the club’s members will be shown on the PCs at the exhibition. The MGA currently has more than 2,000 works in its gallery, the founding member said.

“We gave the paintings to LeCute and they selected 50 of them to be printed for display,” he said.

MGA first began as a Group on Facebook last August and boasts more than 800 members now. According to MGA the purpose of such an exhibition was to showcase the talents of Maldivians to the public. The MGA was registered as a Club in Maldives last month.

The exhibition will be open to the public and will continue until Friday. Arrangements have been made for those who are interested in purchasing the paintings on display. Although the MGA did not specify the prices of the artwork they said that it will be affordable for the average public. In addition to the 50 paintings on display at the exhibition, interested buyers will be able to purchase the artwork on display on the computers too.
