MoneyGram International, in collaboration with the Maldives Post, is offering their customers a chance to win instant prizes when they use MoneyGram’s service, the company has said.
According to a press release issued by the company, each time a money transfer is sent to any of the 190 countries and territories in MoneyGram’s network, the customer will receive a coupon to enter a draw at the end of the month to win a Nokia 1650 mobile phone and also a chance to instantly win exciting gifts.
MoneyGram International is a leading global money transfer company and Maldives Post is their largest agent in the Maldives with 25 locations. Last year, MoneyGram increased its South Asia agent network by nearly 50 percent as it added more than 5,000 locations to meet money transfer needs for immigrant workers in countries such as the Maldives, the press release said.
Harsh Lambah, the MoneyGram regional director, South Asia, said that money transfer services were important in the Maldives as immigrant workers comprise a large percentage of the workers
“MoneyGram is focused on ensuring these workers understand they have a choice for safe, affordable and reliable money transfer services,” he said. “If workers haven’t tried MoneyGram yet, this promotion is an opportunity for them to use our affordable service and have fun with instant prizes and a bumper draw each month.”
MoneyGram now has 20,000 agent locations in India and a total of 21 banks that provide their services are available in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
“Our key task in Maldives is to help the consumer understand the significance of using a safe, convenient and affordable money transfer service that helps them send money in just a few minutes to anywhere in the world,” said Lambah. “Our locations across South Asia increased nearly 50 percent last year and this year we’ve already added more than 6,000 locations in India. Immigrant workers in the Maldives rely on convenient locations for their family and friends in South Asia and MoneyGram has increased its convenience in this region over the last year. The promotion is a way to attract new customers who haven’t heard about our growth and convenience as well as our affordable low fees.”
According to the press release, customers can transfer up to US$500 from Maldives to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Srilanka for a low fee of US$5. To send or receive money in Maldives, customers can walk into any MoneyGram agent location, complete a simple form and show a photo identification to transfer funds in as little as 10 minutes, subject to agent availability and hours of operation.
The promotion runs for six months and ends Dec. 31, 2009. Each month a draw will be made and winners will be announced and contacted by Maldives Post.
