MP Yamin sues MP Thasmeen for US$ 100,000

Yamin is the president of the opposition People’s Alliance party and the half-brother of the former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the current DRP leader.
Yamin has announced candidacy for the 2013 elections, while Gayoom has endorsed Thasmeen.
Yamin has refused to comment, but the Civil Court has confirmed the case has been lodged.

According to DRP charter, DRP leader shall contest in the presidential race. Being the sole candidate, Thasmeen has been elected as the party leader automatically for the upcoming term.

Mulak MP Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom sued the vice-president of the largest opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Kendhoo MP Ahmed Thasmeen Ali for US$ 100,000 on Wednesday.
