Climate change is an electoral issue, says President

President Mohamed Nasheed, while speaking to media at the ITB Berlin Fair, has called all the nations to make climate change an electoral issue.

President said the public has to on the issue of climate change, as the governments will act on the consent of majority of people. He added that the message would be equally beneficial for candidates competing for elections.

When asked why tourists should visit Maldives, President Nasheed said it was for the warm hospitality and quality services offered by Maldivian resorts. He also stressed that Maldives’ unique natural attributes were the main attraction for tourists.

In the press conference, Tourism Minister Dr Ahmed Ali Sawad, and Vice Chairman of Maldives Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) Hussein Afeef spoke to journalists as well.
