MBC rightful to take legal action to procure its assets

A press release signed by company Chairperson Ibrahim Umar Manik said the company would not be responsible for the losses faced by any company involved in such a transaction.
The press release cites articles 42, 43, 44 and 45 of Maldives Broadcasting Corporation Act which stipulate that assets, employees, and land used by state media organisations, including Television Maldives (TVM), Youth TV, Voice of Maldives (VOM) and Raajje FM belong to the company.
Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC) which currently manages state media organisations decided to sell 40 percent of shares to island councils and 20 percent to the public.

MALE, July 31, 2010 (HNS) – Maldives Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has the right to take legal action against any party that sell, lease, or give its assets against the law, the company said Thursday.
A press release signed by company Chairperson Ibrahim Umar Manik said the company would not be responsible for the losses faced by any company involved in such a transaction.
