Ruling MDP starts constituency elections

MALE, September 24 (HNS) – Ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Friday started its constituency elections.

Candidates will be elected for 77 constituencies in the election to be held from 2pm to 7pm via SMS.

President, vice president, treasurer, secretary and a secretary for advertisements and announcements will be elected for constituencies where the party does not represent in the parliament. The member who represents the party in the parliament will automatically be appointed to the president’s post in other constituencies.

Unregistered members for SMS voting should vote at polling stations set up at Kalaafaanu School in Male and the islands.
