Supreme Court concludes MP Musthafa's hearing without delivering verdict

Supreme Court today concluded the hearing without delivering a verdict in the case filed by Umar Naseer, seeking the removal of Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa from office on the claim that he was not settling his debts in accordance with a court ruling.

16.42 - Protestors gathered outside Endherimaage threw several items at the house.


16.21 - Protestors are moving towards Endherimaage, the residence of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.


16.14 - Despite the Supreme Court's decision to conclude the hearing without delivering a verdict, a large number of people are still gathered outside the court.


16.10 - The Supreme Court has concluded the hearing without delivering a verdict on the parliament's Thimarafushi seat. The judges said that they wanted to clarify certain matters in its enquiry.


15.41 – Senior government officials and MPs, councillors and members of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are protesting outside the Supreme Court in what they claimed is an effort "to liberate the judiciary".

The protest coincides with the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for 3.30pm to deliver a verdict over the parliament's Thimarafushi seat held by MDP Parliamentary Group member Mohamed Musthafa.

Police are present at the area.
