Nasheed in residence, not detained: army

Mohamed Nasheed, who stepped down as president of the Maldives on Tuesday, was in his residence and is not being detained, an army spokesman told AFP.

"He is not in detention. He is in his residence," said Colonel Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, responding to calls from an opposition party for Nasheed to be taken into military custody.
