Police have revealed that bottles of alcohol and items suspected to be related to the use of hash oil had been found at Muliaage, the official residence of former president Mohamed Nasheed yesterday, as the residence was being cleaned out following the president's resignation.

Police have however not revealed the total number of bottles found, but has stated that some bottles had been addressed to the former president from various parties abroad.

They stated that some bottles had been brought into the residence in A4 sized envelopes stamped with special security check by the special protection group of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

“Alleged bottles of alcohol were found amongst the trash cleared out from the residence. The bottles have now been handed over to the drug enforcement unit and the matter is being investigated,” a police media official said.
