Supreme Court has scheduled the case of the removal of eight MP's from parliament by the former President Mohamed Nasheed, who had been appointed by his predecessor President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom after a 1 1/2 year lapse.

The case of the appointed eight MP’s was taken to court by Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam and Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof.

Both the civil court and high court had ruled that Nasheed administration had the legal authority to remove the appointed eight MP’s. The case was later appealed at the Supreme Court on 4th April 2009.

The case filed at the civil court stated that former president Nasheed had illegally removed the eight members appointed to the Parliament by his predecessor Gayoom.

The plaintiffs also request the court to cancel the lower court’s decision and also stated that the new members were appointed to the parliament illegally.
