Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that the eight appointed MP's by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom were illegally removed from the parliament during former President Nasheed's presidency.

The court ruling also stated that the members are entitled to their salary and allowances from the time that they were removed till the end of the interim parliament and had ordered to pay the sum.

The case which was filed by Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof and Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam was appealed 1½ years ago after the civil court and the high court had ruled against their favor.

Both the civil court and high court had ruled that Nasheed administration had the legal authority to remove the appointed eight MP’s.
