Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed that an incident of piracy had occurred 7 miles inside the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Maldives.
17:28 MNDF just said that the vessel victim to the piracy was a cargo ship from Bolivia and the ship is being led away from the Maldives.
16:38 Whether the vessel which was victim to the piracy was from the Maldives had also not been established, MNDF said.
16:12 MNDF media official revealed based on reports that the incident took place 190 miles north-west of Haa Alif Atoll Hoarafushi in the morning.
“One of our vessels is now en-route to the area of the incident. We only know that an incident had taken place,” official added.
