Dr Didi to contest for JP Presidency

The Jumhoory Party (JP) has revealed that the former President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Dr Ibrahim Didi, who recently joined JP has applied to and is the only contestant running for the position of President of the party.

The party had opened applications for four positions with the deadline expiring yesterday. The positions were of President, Vice President, Secretary General and Policy Secretary.

Mohamed Haleem and Executive Chairman of Villa Television (VTV) Ameen Ibrahim have applied to contest for the position of Vice President. Hassan Shah the former Secretary General of MDP and Moosa Rameez have applied to contest for the position of Secretary General. Transport Minister Dr Ahmed Shamheed and Mohamed Ajmal have applied to contest for the position of Policy Secretary.

The President and Vice President of the party will be elected through a secret vote taken during the steering committee meeting of the party.
