The newly elected Chairperson of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Hulhu-henveiru constituency MP Moosa 'Reeko' Manik has warned leader of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Thasmeen Ali that the party might have to view DRP in another light.
The warning came following the summoning of MDP’s Mahchangoalhi-North MP Mariya Ahmed Didi to the Police station for questioning as part of an investigation yesterday. Moosa claims that the Police are directly under the control of Thasmeen Ali supporting his claim by pointing out that both the Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim and the Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz are members of DRP.
“…they’re both members of DRP. I am warning Thasmeen, even if it’s the party’s chairperson, former chairperson or even a member of the party, we will start viewing DRP in another light if they are dragged to the Police station every second day for no apparent reason. We have the courage to stand up to all the political parties,” Moosa said.
Moosa revealed at the gathering held last night at the Usfasgandu that neighboring India and Sri Lanka are also investigating into the circumstances that led to the fall of former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration.
Moosa in his speech criticized several leaders and members of several parties last night. Regarding strengthening the party Moosa said that the party faces several challenges but assured that party membership will be increased and the challenges overcome.
