Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has stated that a new service named "Triage" has been introduced to cater patients seeking emergency medical treatment more efficiently and effectively.
An official of IGMH revealed that Triage services were being provided in the lobby adjacent to the hospital’s emergency room.
“A desk has been placed to provide Triage services in the lobby adjacent to the emergency room. The patients will be examined and categorized. Necessarily doctors would not provide Triage services. Sometimes nurses would also examine patients from there,” official detailed.
The emergency nature of treatment required will be placed in three primary categories.
“A memo needs to be made after a patient is categorized. A token number will be given for general illnesses. Doctors in the emergency room will examine patients in accordance in the order. In approximately half an hour such patients would also be examined,” official added.
Official detailed that Triage services would be available round the clock, while patients would not have to wait too long to receive treatment.
