Police have arrested another suspect over the gruesome stabbing murder of prominent lawyer Ahmed 'Carrot' Najeeb last Sunday night.

Maldives Police Service detailed that the 31 year old man was taken into custody around 3.30 yesterday afternoon.

Police added that the man is suspected to have gone to Maafannu Masroora after Najeeb was murdered and assisted in disposing of the body.

However, Police are yet to reveal the identity of the man arrested yesterday.

Police had earlier arrested Ahmed Murrath, 29 of Masroora and his live-in girlfriend Fathimath Hana, 18 of Shaviyani Atoll Goidhoo, Rihaab over Najeeb’s brutal murder.

While Murrath later confessed to the murder in court, Hana had admitted to accessory.
Police had claimed that though Najeeb’s murder trial was ongoing at the Criminal Court, search for more evidence in the case have not been ceased.
