The Maldives Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has revealed that a new channel by the name 'Dhivehi TV' will be created soon.
COO of Television Maldives (TVM) Mohamed ‘Mondhu’ Asif said that MBC has received a license to start up a new channel but that work on the channel has not officially begun yet. He revealed that the channels name will be “Dhivehi TV.”
The Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC) had previously made a channel targeted for the youth by the name of “Youth TV” however following the takeover of the Voice of Maldives (VOM) and Television Maldives (TVM) by the MBC the channel was abolished.
Asif said that though plans are underway for a new channel it has not been decided what kind of a channel it will be.
“This channel is not a replacement for Youth TV. It has not been decided which group the channel targets or what kind of channel it will be,” he said.
