Pro-government Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has alleged that opposition Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) lust for power had destroyed the social fabric of the Maldives.
Speaking during the function to inaugurate a new social centre in Kaafu Atoll Huraa, Thasmeen noted that the people of Maldives throughout its history have been friendly, caring and law abiding citizens. However, that reality has now changed, he added.
Thasmeen further alleged that it was the result of MDP’s premeditated offenses carried out during the past six years to quench their thirst for power.
During the meeting attended by President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, Thasmeen also alleged that Police and members of judiciary have been subject to various attacks in the ongoing attempts to tarnish and defame them.
He further urged to remember such violations in order to deny such people another opportunity to repeat their actions.
