Concerned as MDP creates tension nearing Ramadan: Thasmeen

Leader of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) and Kendhoo MP Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has claimed that MDP's attempt to create tension within the atolls and in Male as Ramadan approaches and has condemned it.

In the Maa-hefun (customary feast to mark the approach of Ramadan) held at Imdaduddin School on Friday night Thasmeen said that Maldives is politically unstable as Ramadan approaches. He called on the politicians to put an end to this instability.

“As we welcome a month such as Ramadan, I request all politicians to uphold peace and as the month of Ramadan is a holy month, prayers, especially during the night should be encouraged,” Thasmeen said.

He said that all the politicians need work together in creating a content atmosphere for everyone to attend to their prayers within the month of fasting.

Referring to the Maa-hefun, he said that it is a ritual in the Maldives to host Maa-hefun for everyone to enjoy and welcome the month of Ramadan.

In the meeting he also discussed on the importance of spending more time on prayers during the month of Ramadan. The meeting was attended by many of the party members.
