Maldives Media Council (MMC) annual audit report has revealed that only two members of the council had returned the illegally awarded living allowance.
The annual audit report of 2011 of the MMC publicized yesterday stated that only two of its members had paid back the sum illegally awarded to them while 13 of their members have failed to pay it back after the 15 members had been informed to do so. The 2010 audit report revealed that the allowance had been awarded to them illegally.
Haveeru is aware that the two members who paid back the sum are Ahmed Abdulla and Ahmed Fazeel.
MMC members were awarded MVR900,000 as living allowance, which is at the rate of MVR7,500 per person.
The audit report stated that all other issues mentioned in the 2010 audit report had been resolved.
Some illegal finances were noted in the 2010 audit report of MMC. The 2010 report mentioned that the financial details of some trips abroad by its members had not been submitted and also stated that the inventory of some of its assets had not been maintained at all.
