Indian Defence Minister to visit Maldives

  • Indian Defence Minister A K Anthony is scheduled to visit the Maldives on Saturday.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on Monday stated that the Indian Defence Minister A K Anthony is scheduled to visit the Maldives on Saturday.

A senior official of MNDF said that the visit by the Indian Defence Minister is to be from September 15-17 on an invitation by the Maldivian Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim. The official stated that the main purpose of his visit is to officially open the military hospital by the MNDF and to lay the foundation of the training centre at Maafilaafushi. Both these projects received assistance from the Indian government.

“MNDF hospital received a lot of assistance from the Indian government. A lot of assistance was received equipment wise. The hospital will be officially opened by the Indian Defence Minister,” official said.

He said that the training centre in Maafilaafushi will also be built with the assistance of the Indian government.
