President opens Dharavandhoo airport

President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has opened Baa atoll Dharavandhoo airport.

The President Waheed and first lady travelled on a Maldivian flight to Dharavandhoo airport 20 minutes away by plane from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).

Helium balloons carried away the cloth covering the name board of Dharavandhoo airport as soon as President Waheed Hassan cut the ropes.

The President and first lady received a red carpet welcome upon landing at the airport, while they were accompanied by traditionally dressed group. The whole ceremony had been adorned with cultural items.

Maldivian has started scheduled flights to this destination developed by coastline.
