A Maldivian student has been arrested in Sri Lanka for the possession of illegal drugs.

The 24-year-old, who is following a designing course, was arrested on Sunday evening from Colombo 3.

A police spokesperson told Haveeru that a cigarette filled with hash oil was found from the Maldivian.

He was granted crown bail today by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court.

The Maldivian High Commission in Colombo, however, said it had no information about the Maldivian's arrest.
