Shafeeg found guilty of defaming Gayoom

Henveiru Shafeeg, Ahmed Shafeeg has been found guilty of defaming former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom by the court today.

The Civil Court delivered its verdict for Shafeeg to pay Gayoom MVR5,000 after he had filed the case at the court.

Shafeeg had earlier refused to accept the chit summoning him to the court and the police had also failed to present Shafeeg in court.

Finally the court had announced Shafeeg to be presented at court earlier this month and that the court would conclude the trial in his absence.
