Red Bull Air Racer Besenyei excites Maldivian audience

Red Bull Air Race champion Péter Besenyei showed off his skills yesterday to hundreds of Maldivians gathered at the Ekuevni Stadium area in capital Male.

Besenyei showed off his skills in a special plane used for air races at the Red Bull Air Show organised by Euro Marketing, which markets the famous energy drink Red Bull in the Maldives.

Besenyei, 55 who has been declared world champion eight times, previously won the freestyle world championship and the European freestyle championship and played an important role in creating the Red Bull Air Race competition.

Famed local 'bodu beru' group Harubee also took part in the event which also saw a street style football competition and remote-controlled airplane race as well.

Famous Russian Base Jumper Valerie Rozov was also to show off his skills yesterday but his flight experienced some technical difficulties forcing Euro Marketing to reschedule the event for next year.
