Criminal Court yesterday extended the detention period of the third suspect taken into custody over the brutal stabbing murder of lawyer Ahmed 'Carrot' Najeeb, for a further ten days.
Media official of the court detailed that the third suspect arrested in the case was Ahmed Liusan of Male registry number 2314.
Police had earlier claimed that Liusan had been arrested for allegedly assisting in the disposing of Najeeb’s body.
The primary two suspects in the case Ahmed Murrath, 29 of Maafannu Masroora and his live in girlfriend Fathimath Hana, 18 of Shaviyani Atoll Goidhoo, Rihaab had confessed to the murder in court earlier.
Criminal Court had earlier ordered both suspects to be retained in Police custody till the conclusion of the trial.
The trial of Murrath and Hana over Najeeb’s murder is close to its end, as the Judge presiding over the case during the last hearing had said that a verdict would be delivered this Thursday.
