Stolen bike dodges checkpoint, ends at sea

A man riding a stolen motorcycle last night fell in to a boat while the bike ended up in the sea when he attempted to evade a security checkpoint near the local market area.

Police stated that Thaa Guraidhoo, Thiburoazuge, Mohamed Samah, 22, who rode a stolen bike, went out of control and in to the sea at around midnight in front of Vadhufoshi shop.

Police also informed that the motorcycle had hit a man before ending up in sea and that both the pedestrian and the motorist had suffered minor injuries.

Police stated that the motorist sped through the police checkpoint near the travelers market and that they had found out that the motorbike was stolen after questioning the motorist, Samah was apprehended onboard the boat.

Police have now retrieved the bike out of the sea and returned it to its rightful owner. A policeman was also injured on Sunday night from a speeding vehicle at another police checkpoint.
