Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Company (MMPRC) have revealed that the number of tourists arriving from the middle-east had increased.

Statistics published by the company show that from January to March 2012, 4,344 tourists had arrived from the middle-east, which is a 77.8 percent increase in the number of tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year.

A website named Arabian business states that the numbers of tourist arrivals to the Maldives from Arab countries are increasing because new resorts are being opened in the Maldives and that most tourists come from Saudi Arabia to the Maldives.

The Maldives is also employing various strategies to attract tourists from the middle-east including plans to participate in upcoming travel fairs to be held in the region. Maldives has already participated in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Fair of 2012.
