General Manager of Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa, Rene D Egle has said that tourists express keen interest in viewing historical locations in Addu Atoll.

Speaking at press conference held at Traders Hotel last night Rene noted that Addu was occupied by the British during the Second World War and thus there are various historical sites.

“We’re identifying historical locations in the island to arrange tours. We’re making arrangements for tours for the tourists,” he said.

He said that the resort currently organizes tours to agricultural areas of Addu and that tourists are very interested to witness Maldivian lifestyle.

Rene noted that the resort also purchases over 30 different types of locally grown produce from the farmers in Addu.
