Maldives' stall in the International Tourism Expo (BITI) held in Beijing, China has been awarded first place.
Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) detailed that 44 parties including officials from the Tourism Ministry, Resorts and Tour operators had participated in the fair.
Information in relation to Maldives had been disseminated to Chinese Travel Agents in the fair that was held from last Friday through Sunday, where the opportunity to meet with prominent parties of the Chinese tourism industry had been facilitated, according to MMPRC.
Most tourist arrivals in the Maldives are from China where 73,339 have been recorded up to May of this year, which is a 12.6 percent increase in comparison with the same period last year.
In a bid to increase Chinese tourist arrivals, Maldives has been participating in various tourism fairs and other relevant activities in China. MMPRC is also undertaking efforts to secure tourists from other cities in China.
