The Connected Push, United Press International, CBS Information and NPR News must submit suitable paperwork to the Chinese governing administration within seven days, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian explained Wednesday at a regular press briefing.
“China is compelled to acquire these measures to counter the US’ unreasonable suppression of Chinese media in the US,” Zhao reported. “They are entirely self-protection.”
“The US measures are centered on Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices,” Zhao additional. “They have seriously harmed Chinese media’s status and picture, and severely disrupted their standard functions in the US.”
The Trump administration and the Beijing authorities have been engaged in many rounds of tit-for-tat focusing on of each individual other’s media outlets.
