China sanctions Sens. Cruz, Rubio over religious persecution of Uighur Muslim minorities

Beijing — China on Monday explained it will ban entry to U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, Consultant Chris Smith and Ambassador for Spiritual Independence Sam Brownback around their criticism of the ruling Communist Party’s procedures toward minority groups and folks of faith.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said steps by the U.S. experienced “seriously damaged China-U.S. relations” and that China was identified to uphold its nationwide sovereignty against what it sees as interference in its inside affairs.

“China will react further more according to the progress of the condition,” Hua explained.
