Two police officers and a constable in Tamil Nadu have been summoned by the Madras Significant Court docket above the fatalities of a gentleman and his son arrested for keeping their shop open up past permitted hrs through the coronavirus lockdown. The Judicial Magistrate was tasked with investigating the situation in which Jeyaraj and Beniks died just after their arrest previously this month for trying to keep their mobile cellphone store open 15 minutes outside of lockdown curfew. The fatalities, blamed on egregious police torture, have sparked nationwide outrage and calls for murder expenses from the law enforcement.

Jeyaraj, 59, and his son Beniks, 31, were arrested on June 19. The law enforcement claimed in their FIR that the two argued and fought with the law enforcement, showered verbal abuses and rolled about on the avenue to combat their arrest.
The two gentlemen were being allegedly subjected to brutal torture at the police station. Their relatives alleges they experienced extreme internal and external wounds, including rectal bleeding, when they had been introduced.
Beniks died in medical center on June 22. His father died the future day.
There has been an outpouring of anger and grief above the deaths. Activists, politicians and celebrities have demanded murder prices in opposition to the policemen concerned, lots of using the hashtag #JusticeForJeyarajAndBennicks.
The law enforcement have only registered a scenario of suspicious deaths until now. The state govt today handed around the investigation to the CBI. Some activists explained the shift could dilute the case.
