Iran has mentioned the misalignment of an air defence unit’s radar process was the key “human error” that led to the accidental downing of a Ukrainian passenger aircraft in January.
“A failure happened thanks to a human mistake in adhering to the treatment” for aligning the radar, triggering a “107-degree error” in the process, the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation (CAO) stated in a report late on Saturday.
This mistake “initiated a hazard chain” that observed even more errors fully commited in the minutes just before the plane was shot down, mentioned the CAO document, presented as a “factual report” and not as the final report on the accident investigation.
