RICHMOND, Va. — Significant school football with not be performed in Virginia this fall due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Virginia Significant University League (VHSL).
The corporation states they will make a decision the fate of the 2020 fall sports activities time on July 27. Football in the drop is not involved in any of the 3 products underneath consideration.
- Product 1: Only golfing and cross state in the slide. All other fall sports cancelled.
- Design 2: Spring sports activities (except lacrosse) staying shifted to the slide and vice versa
- Model 3: All sports activities played in truncated seasons from Dec. 14-June 26.
- Design 3: Winter season Athletics would be held Dec. 14-Feb. 20 (First enjoy day: 12/28). Fall Sports activities would be held Feb. 15-May perhaps 1 (To start with play day: 3/1) Spring Sports activities would be held April 12-June 26 (First enjoy day: 4/26).
There is no term if soccer will be deemed for the winter season and spring months.
Chad Hornik, head coach at Deep Operate Large College, reacted to Wednesday’s announcement in a statement to CBS 6.
“My coronary heart is hefty for our Deep Operate football gamers and coaches. We have been functioning incredibly tough properly ahead of COVID-19 strike our environment and now our seniors could maybe be losing the prospect to enjoy their senior period,” claimed Hornik. “We have much more than a dozen players that are counting on the 2020 year to make their last impressions on college or university recruiters and now this opportunity could potentially be absent.”
He claims he continues to be optimistic that slide sporting activities will in some way take place for his group and for all fall athletes around the nation.
