Assistant Chief Constable with Police Scotland Steve Johnson said the male suspect was shot by armed police and a law enforcement officer was injured although working with the incident.
“We are continuing to offer with the incident on West George Street #Glasgow and would request folks to stay clear of the region,” Johnson claimed.
“Nonetheless, I would like to reassure the general public that this is a contained incident and that the wider community is not at possibility. Armed police officers attended the incident and I can verify that a male suspect was shot by an armed officer.
“I would like to reassure the public that at this time we are not wanting for any person else in relation to this incident. I can also confirm that a law enforcement officer was injured when working with the incident and that officer is obtaining treatment method in healthcare facility,” Johnson mentioned.
The police federation mentioned “the spouse and children of the officer has been notified and is being supported by the services.”
Scotland’s 1st Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the stories had been “actually dreadful” and requested the public by means of Twitter to stay clear of the area of where the incident took place, although the police offer with it, and not to share unconfirmed facts.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that he was “deeply saddened” by the incident.
“Deeply saddened by the terrible incident in Glasgow, my thoughts are with all the victims and their households. Thank you to our courageous unexpected emergency services who are responding,” Johnson tweeted.
United kingdom House Secretary Priti Patel mentioned the studies coming out of the Glasgow incident are “deeply alarming” and questioned the community to prevent the spot.
She tweeted: “Deeply alarming studies coming from Glasgow. Remember to stick to police information and stay clear of the spot.”
